Institute of the Rockies

is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Missoula, Montana. We help fund research into complex conservation issues in the western United States and around the world. Institute of the Rockies is registered with and its 501(c)(3) status verified by Guidestar.org in conjuction with Network For Good.

Institute officers

are scientists, biologists and educators. Dr. Charles Jonkel is president of Institute of the Rockies. He is a bear biologist and also serves as president of Great Bear Foundation. Patricia Sowka is the institute's secretary and treasurer. She is a wildlife biologist and is the founder of the Living With Wildlife Foundation. Dr. Allen Bjergo is vice-president of the institute, and is an agricultural consultant, farmer, historian and educator.
